Submission Schedule

Beginning January 4th 2011, XML files containing non-National elements will be rejected

    NEMSIS 2.2.1 XML Submission Policy

The State EMS Data should be submitted to NEMSIS on a quarterly basis if not sooner.
State requirements for submission may impact when data are submitted.

For States using web services for submission to NEMSIS data may be sent daily, hourly, or as determined by the State and its EMS software system.  If web services are utilized by a State software system, any EMS agency data submitted by a batch upload (import) method to the State should be recognized by the States’ EMS software system and the “batch upload” subsequently submitted to NEMSIS via web services.  All EMS records are expected to be submitted to the National EMS database.

General Process for XML File Submissions and Notifications

Once the NEMSIS 2.2.1 XML file is submitted to NEMSIS via NDX an email is automatically generated and sent to the appropriate contact(s) (State EMS Data Manager, State EMS Director, EMS software company submitting data, etc).  If the XML file(s) are valid the email will indicate so. If the XML file does not pass the NEMSIS v2.2.1 XSD an email is automatically generated and sent to the appropriate contact(s).  The email will indicate that the XML file failed and provide a link to NEMSIS Data Exchange (NDX) for further information.  The NEMSIS TAC staff is available to assist in identifying errors in the XML file.  Please contact us as needed.

When the XML file is valid, a second email is sent when the XML file has passed the NEMSIS Pipeliner system.  A link to NDX is provided which allows the State EMS Data Manager to review the NEMSIS TAC Data Submission Report.  If NEMSIS Business Rules have been triggered and it is a “Critical” error the XML file will not be accepted.
