NEMSIS TAC, or the National EMS Information System Technical Assistance Center, is the resource center for the NEMSIS project - the development of a national EMS database.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance to state, territory, and local EMS agencies
• Provide assistance to commercial software vendors
• Biannually assess all state's and territory's capabilities to provide data to the national EMS database
• Collect EMS data from five states (First year goal) to populate the national EMS database
• Creation of reference documents, such as dataset explanations and validity documentation
• Maintenance of the dataset and the XML schemas
• Create compliance policies and software to assess the capabilities of EMS software applications

Location

In September of 2005, the University of Utah contracts with the University of North Carolina to continue their participation in the NEMSIS program as the Technical Assistance Center.
